Case File 006Documented Outcome

A charge-off and a collection,
deleted.

Between two Experian captures five days apart, $3,281 of negative balance left this file. The report’s own totals corroborate it to within a few hundred dollars of ordinary loan amortisation, and four other figures on the same screen did not move at all.

The record

What came off

Two balance-bearing items and three hard inquiries. The identities below are read from the underlying Experian report detail for each date, the exhibit further down is the account summary screen, which proves the totals moved, not which individual rows moved. We are drawing that distinction rather than blurring it.

Two further inquiries are not counted here Two additional inquiries dated June 2024 also came off in this window. Both were already past the twelve months in which FICO scores an inquiry, and both were within weeks of the twenty-four month point at which the bureau removes them automatically. They would very likely have gone on their own. Counting them would make this file look like seven deletions instead of five, so we don’t count them.

Four numbers that didn’t move, and one that did

The same Experian account summary, captured five days apart. Read the four control figures first, credit limit, open accounts, credit usage, and the first card row. Every one is identical. Then read the total balance.

Exhibit AMay 26 → May 31, 2026 Experian · account summary · before and after
Two Experian account summary screens dated May 26 and May 31 2026. Both show 9 open accounts, 12% credit usage, a $54,300 credit limit and AVA FINANCE INC as the first card row. Total balance falls from $42,381 to $38,684. The consumer name is redacted on both.

How to read this pair The controls are unusually strong here. Credit limit $54,300 is identical on both days, so no new card was opened, no limit was raised, and no aged account was added to the file by anyone. Nine open accounts, identical. 12% credit usage, identical. AVA FINANCE INC sits in the same first position in the card list. Against four fixed figures, the total balance falling $3,697 is a change in what the file contains. And the arithmetic closes: $3,281 of removed negative balance, plus $26 of revolving movement, leaves about $390, which is what five days of ordinary instalment amortisation looks like on a file this size. The number we claim and the number the report shows agree without being made to.
Discipline

What we are not claiming

The score on this file rose 34 points across the same five days, and unusually, none of the obvious confounders explain it. We are still not claiming it, and the reason is worth reading.

Read this before you read anything else

  • We cannot document that we caused these deletions. This is the honest limit of this file. We hold no dispute correspondence for it: no letters, no bureau responses. What we can show is that the items were on the file on May 26 and gone on May 31. That is a documented deletion, not a demonstrated cause, and we will not write it as though the two were the same thing.
  • One removed item had already survived an investigation. On May 26 the charged-off auto loan carried the bureau’s own comment that an FCRA dispute investigation had been completed and the item verified, with the consumer disagreeing. Its disappearance five days later is not explained by anything in our records.
  • We do not claim the 34-point score movement as our result. We checked the usual causes and did not find them: no authorised-user account was added, the credit limit is identical on both days, and revolving balances moved $26. The score did rise. Without documented authorship of the disputes, it is not ours to sell.
  • Five days is a short window, and it is unconfirmed. The gap sits inside the thirty days the FCRA allows a bureau to investigate, and we do not yet hold a later pull confirming these items stayed off.
  • This is one bureau, and one file. Every deletion here is Experian. Other negative information remains on the file. This is not typical, not a projection, and not a promise.
Questions

What this file does and does not answer

Can a collection account be deleted from a credit report?

It can when reported inaccurately or unverifiably. On this file a $719 National Credit Adjusters collection, original creditor CreditNinja, appeared on the May 26, 2026 Experian capture and was absent on May 31, 2026, taking the file from one collection to none.

How can you verify a credit report deletion is real?

Check the figures that should not have moved. On this file the credit limit ($54,300), open accounts (9), credit usage (12%) and the first card row are identical on both captures, while total balance falls $42,381 to $38,684. That $3,697 drop reconciles to $3,281 of removed negative balance plus ordinary amortisation.

Why is the 34-point score gain not claimed as a result here?

Because no dispute correspondence exists for this file. The items left and stayed off, which is documented. Without letters or bureau responses establishing who filed what and when, the deletion can be shown but its cause cannot, and the score movement is not presented as Pinnacle's result.

Do hard inquiries still affect a credit score after twelve months?

No. FICO scores inquiries for twelve months, and bureaus remove them automatically at twenty-four. Two inquiries removed from this file were already past the scoring window and near automatic purge, so they are excluded from the count, five items, not seven.
