A $5,551 collection and one hard inquiry left this Experian file across four days. A closed account
still marked potentially negative, carrying 90 and 120 day markers, did not. That second fact is
the one worth reading, because it is what tells you the first was not a blanket sweep.

The record
What came off
Two items, read off Experian’s own pages for each date. Both captures were retrieved from
Experian on the evening of August 1 and carry the bureau’s print timestamps two minutes
apart, so the earlier one is Experian’s own stored copy of the July 28 file rather than
anything supplied to us second hand.

Exhibits
The record that stayed still
Both captures run to forty one pages with every section on the same page number, so this is a
like-for-like read. Twenty seven account pages report the same furnishers in the same order with
the same figures on both dates.

Public records uses the same construction and does not move across the two dates. The section that stayed still is what makes the section that moved legible as a change in the file.
Exhibit BJul 28 → Aug 1, 2026Experian · inquiries · before and after

Experian printed its own removal date for this inquiry, August 2027. It was a year short of that, so it did not leave on the automatic schedule.

This is the exhibit that carries the most weight. A closed account settled for less than the balance, still labelled potentially negative by Experian and still showing 90 and 120 day markers, sat through the same four days in which the collection and the inquiry left. Whatever happened here did not touch it.

The whole fall in total debt is the collection: $5,563 minus $5,551 leaves the $12 card balance, which is identical on both dates. Nothing was paid down, no account was opened, no limit changed, and utilisation stayed at zero.
How to read these pairs
Exhibit C is the one to spend time on. Navy Federal Credit Union is closed, settled for
less than was owed, labelled potentially negative by Experian, and carries 90 and 120 day
markers in its payment grid. It reads identically on July 28 and on August 1. A process that
simply removed unfavourable information would have removed that too. Against it, the collection
and the inquiry are gone, and the arithmetic on Exhibit D closes exactly: total debt of $5,563
minus the $5,551 collection leaves $12, which is the card balance on both dates.
Discipline
What we are not claiming
The score on this file rose 88 points across four days. We are not claiming it, and there is one
figure on the bureau’s own summary that we cannot make add up, which we would rather show you
than quietly use.
Read this before you read anything else
A number on the report that we will not use. Experian’s account summary
counts accounts ever late as 4 on July 28 and 1 on August 1. We went through all twenty
seven account pages on both captures and only one account, Navy Federal, shows negative payment
history on either date. We cannot reconcile that counter to the pages behind it, so we do not
rely on it and it forms no part of what is claimed here.
We cannot document that we caused these deletions. No dispute correspondence
for this file is in our hands. What is shown is that two items were on the file on July 28 and
gone on August 1. That is a documented deletion, not a demonstrated cause.
We do not claim the 88-point score movement. The usual confounders are absent
and we checked each: no account was opened, the credit limit is $49,500 on both days, the card
balance is $12 on both days and utilisation is zero throughout. The score did rise. Without
documented authorship it is not ours to sell.
Four days is a very short window, and it is unconfirmed. The gap sits well
inside the thirty days the FCRA allows a bureau to investigate, so this documents a deletion
rather than a permanent one. We do not yet hold a later pull confirming these items stayed off.
This is one bureau, and one file. Every change here is Experian. A deletion at
one bureau does not change a score calculated from another bureau’s data, and a negative
account remains on this one. This is not typical, not a projection, and not a promise.
Questions
What this file does and does not answer
Can a collection account be removed from a credit report?
It can when the reporting is inaccurate or cannot be verified. On this file a $5,551 National Credit System collection, opened March 6 2025 and reported as joint responsibility, appeared on the July 28 2026 Experian capture and was absent on August 1 2026, taking the file from one collection to none and total debt from $5,563 to $12.
How do you know a deletion was not just a blanket sweep of everything negative?
Because something negative stayed. A Navy Federal Credit Union account, closed and paid in settlement, carries 90 and 120 day markers and Experian's own “potentially negative” label on both captures, unchanged. A process that removed everything unfavourable would have taken it too.
What does joint responsibility mean on a collection account?
It means the bureau reported the debt as shared with another person rather than held individually. Experian printed “Joint” in the responsibility field of this collection. It is recorded here because it is part of what the account said, and because responsibility is one of the fields a furnisher can report incorrectly.
Why is the 88-point score movement not claimed as a result here?
Because authorship is not documented. No dispute correspondence for this file is held, so who filed what and when cannot be shown. The window is also four days wide, well inside the thirty days the FCRA gives a bureau to investigate, and no later pull yet confirms the items stayed off.
