ACDV (Automated Credit Dispute Verification)
An ACDV is the standardized electronic form a credit bureau sends a furnisher through e-OSCAR when a consumer disputes an account. The furnisher responds by confirming, correcting, or deleting the disputed data.
Why it matters in credit repair
ACDV handling shapes most dispute outcomes. Because the form often condenses a dispute into codes, a furnisher can "verify" an account without reviewing source documents, producing a shallow confirmation.
How it appears on a credit report
ACDV activity is not shown on a consumer's report; it happens between bureau and furnisher. Consumers see only the result — verified, updated, or deleted.
Example
A consumer disputes a charge-off balance; the furnisher clicks "verified" against its existing record via the ACDV without checking the original statement.
Common misunderstanding
Many consumers assume a "verified" ACDV means a human reviewed documents. It often reflects an automated match, which is why a method-of-verification request can be revealing.
