What is Collection?
A documentation-first definition.

Collection (Collection (third-party collection tradeline)). A collection is a tradeline reporting that a debt has been sold or assigned from an original creditor to a third-party collector. Collections remain on the credit report for 7 years from the original date of first delinquency on the underlying debt under FCRA section 1681c. Re-aging the date of first delinquency is a section 1681c violation.
