What is Debt validation?
A documentation-first definition.

Debt validation (Debt validation (FDCPA section 1692g)). Debt validation is the consumer right under FDCPA section 1692g to demand written verification of a debt from a third-party collector. The collector must produce records showing the amount, the original creditor, and proof that the collector is authorized to collect. Failure to validate within 30 days of a written request limits the collector's ability to continue collection.
