What is Metro 2?
A documentation-first definition.

Metro 2 (Metro 2 reporting standard). Metro 2 is the credit reporting format published by the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) that every furnisher uses to report consumer credit data to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The standard specifies exact field formats, status codes, and date conventions. Each Metro 2 field is a potential FCRA accuracy challenge if reported incorrectly.
