Rapid Rescore

Glossary

Rapid Rescore

A rapid rescore is a lender-initiated process that asks the credit bureaus to update specific, documented changes on a credit file within a few business days, so a new score can be pulled before a mortgage closing.

Why it matters in credit repair

Near a closing deadline, a few points can change a borrower's pricing tier on a large loan. A rapid rescore reflects documented improvements quickly — but only changes you can prove now, and it cannot remove accurate negative items.

How it appears on a credit report

Rapid rescore is not a line on a credit report; it is a service your lender requests through a reseller after you provide documentation, such as a statement showing a paid-down balance or a creditor letter correcting an error.

Example

A borrower pays down a card and provides the statement; the lender requests a rapid rescore, the balance updates within days, and the refreshed score clears a program threshold. Results vary.

Common misunderstanding

Consumers often think they can order a rapid rescore themselves or that it erases negatives. It must be lender-initiated and only reflects documented, accurate changes — it is not a substitute for an FCRA dispute of inaccurate items.
